About me

I’m a woman from NH USA, born in 1968. My husband and I have been married for 10 years. We have 3 simply amazing children, ages 8, 4 & 2 years. I am an avid gardener & that is where you are likely to find me if it isn’t winter!! I enjoy running, walking, pilates, riding my bicycle, swimming, reading & knitting. I almost always over extend myself with kids school, activities & volunteering for those areas.

RE: my health

I have always been “thin” - but not necessarily “in shape”. I started smoking when I was 13 - well not a pack/day at that point, but experimenting. I smoked for 17 years, most of which was a 1 pack/day and could not quit until I became pregnant with my first child. I have been a non-smoker for 8 1/2 years now and would NEVER put a cigarette to my lips again. My lungs should be pink again by now and they along with all of the other parts of my body are experiencing this new amazing experience called “running”. I’m not sure exactly what they think about it, but I am really enjoying the challenge.

I started my pregnancy with my third child already 10 lbs over my ideal weight. I lost 10 lbs. last spring/summer but then kind of continued on with my frequent stops at Dunkin’ Donuts and pretty much eating whatever I felt like. I kept off that 10 lbs, but would like to lose another 10 lbs.

I love my children more than anything in this world. They are incredible little beings who amaze me every day with their intelligence and insane antics. My worst nightmare would be for my children to ever be without their mom. So, getting myself into better shape is one way of making sure that I will be around for them as long as possible.

My Avatar is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, they are my absolute favorite band, really insightful individuals and are very inspirational to me. I feel that if they can overcome the years and years of drug abuse and come back the way that they have, I can run a few miles and take better care of the gift that I was given.

Thanks for visiting my blog and supporting my journey!

Hey,
It’s good to know there are other people out there who came to running late. I am an on again off again runner. I was training for a marathon 4 years ago and got the worst shin splints ever- I think from over-training. I exercise pretty regularly. Right now that means kyuki-do (a martial art), hiking, walking, and horseback riding. I just finished a sprint traithlon (see my blog if you want) and I’m taking a little break from running, swimming and biking, but I’m adding weightlifting, because it will help my speed to build more strength in my legs and arms. Good for you, that you are choosing to be healthy for your kids!

Hey - thanks for the shout out from a fellow native. I’m complaining about a blister and you’re running with a broken toe! Not sure what your surgery is about, but good luck with it.
