From the second we woke up this a.m. we were going non stop. But, not really active movement, more like sitting on my butt driving here and there in the car. Tons of pick-ups, drop offs, appointments, etc. All for this wedding on Friday. Man, it isn’t even my wedding. Tomorrow a.m., pilates & a nice run.

There are some days when I feel like the treadmill is such a burden. Then I always wonder whether I would do better outside (with no kids to push and no mountain on the way home). There are just some days, no matter what I have on the television in front of me - I would much rather watch it sitting down, or folding laundry. I did manage to cut my time, but I did tire easily and had to slow down often. How do you increase your speed in a manner that your body doesn’t really notice? Thankfully this 5k that I am training for is a very flat course. I have asked my friend to run it with me, hopefully she will. I may start driving to a flatter terrain to practice running, maybe on the weekend when my husband is home. Heck, I burned 238 cal (+ 11.8 on my little tiny warm up walk). Thats gotta count for something (yea, a 3 Musketeers Bar - tehehe!!) Have a big rehearsal dinner on Thurs. night and wedding meal & appetizers on Friday night, I am going to try to be good. I am not a big drinker, so maybe 1 drink (driving kids and husband), but I love to sit at the table and eat the rolls, and the butter and enjoy every course & chat (hopefully NOT stuck next to the mother-in-law!)!!!! So, I will kill as many calories between now and Thurs./Fri. to help balance it all out.

I officially signed myself up for a 5k taking place on Labor Day Sept. 1, 2008. Let the training begin! I am going to ask a friend if she wants to run with me. I am really nervous.

Walked about 2/10 mi. total and ran the rest. I have sweat in my bellybutton and my glasses are sliding off of my nose - my ankles have sweat running down them!
So, I have decided to blog for myself and myself only. No one is reading my posts (except for Kim my kindred spirit on the left coast!) because they never show up on the pages. For weeks I have been reading posts about things that have NOTHING to do with working out - at all, so I was really pissed the other day and decided to post “no more blogging.” and realized shortly thereafter that I am doing this for myself and no one else. I am going to step up my work out efforts, I AM signing up for a 5k THIS WEEK (or next week since this week is ALL wedding activities and prep for a family member). I am done saying “maybe pilates this afternoon” or “maybe I will run this afternoon if I can”. I did 30 mins. pilates and ran 2 miles before 9:15 in the morning (considering I have 3 kids, and no childcare, that is pretty good!) Going to go stretch for 10 mins. I always forget to stretch after. Blogging does keep me motivated, I guess it just doesn’t matter who reads it. Brad, if you do read this, can you tell me why my posts are still not showing?

yuck. I really like the beginner pilates better. I am now a tiny fish in a big advanced pilates pond. I was a big fish in a little happy beginners pilates pond. Crap, it is tougher than I thought it would be. I had done the video once before, but didn’t remember it being that hard. There are two moves that I cannot do due to a physical (medical) issue. But everything else is do-able, once I “get it”. Well, it is done and I am glad that I did it. I am really going to focus on my eating this weekend and all of next week. I have decided that I am a carb & dairy addict, not really but kind of. I don’t sit & binge or anything like that, I barely eat it. But God, do I LOVE bread, baked goods, anything that contains flour & yeast. And cheese - don’t even mention it. Any kind (except for bleu or gorganzola), if there is cheese in the room, have to have it. Brie, provolone, parm. reggiano, smoked gouda (even American or hell, cheese wiz.) I LOVE it. I am going to try to cut back on any dairy and breads for the next week and see what the results are. Wedding to attend on the 1st - dress that must fit perfectly. Still have the Lyme headaches in the a.m, I think I am 1/2 way through my antibiotics. I am wondering again if I am simply dehydrated all of the time. That will also be my focus for the upcoming week, better hydration. Will run on Sat., going for 2.5 mi. I sucked this week and really did nothing to post. It seems that our Summer has been busier than the school year!

I guess today was a day off. I woke up, put on my work out clothes, and dropped off my daughter at her activity. Hopped to the grocery store and intended to return home & slip in a pilates DVD. I then proceeded to plan a last min. trip to the zoo with the 3 kids. Spent the day at the zoo looking VERY athletic in my running shoes and sporty attire. However, I did pack a very nutritious lunch and avoided anything with the word “fried” or “candied” in the title. We all had some great turkey sandwiches, plums & pretzels. The kids had rice crispy treats instead of cotton candy. They fed every animal that you could hand feed - the deer are their favorite.
All in all, it was a really nice day with them (until I closed the back hatch of my car full force into my nose, I think I may have broken it, it has a lovely cut across it now!).
